LIFE and DEATH - A RELATIONSHIP OF GOOD VS EVIL
It is important for us to understand - life is not a box of chocolates. In your time of despair, you will find out who's got your back. Naudia is the sister, I never had growing up, she would give me a transplant if it was deemed necessary. Our twelve year friendship is closer than that of my own mother’s relationship with me. .............more detail

What a Woman Wants
It’s hard work being a woman. It’s especially hard being a black woman. One reason is because there are so many negative images of what black women ought/ought not to be. In today’s society, it’s hard to be a Lady. Especially when you are trying to be a real Lady, a Woman of God, an upstanding mother, a loving wife.............more detail

The Journey....safety first
My storyline (which used to be entitled 'Smoking Mirrors') deals with the ins and outs of online and internet relationships. Reactions and opinions are mixed when it comes to the differences between meeting a potential mate the old fashioned way... i.e. nightclubs, church, grocery stores, etc. and online dating sites/social networking..............more detail

Caring for my Mother
For the past two weeks I have been caring for my mother. She is recovering from back surgery and it has left her barely able to walk. In this month's article, I am introducing E’de, a character out of my pending book. Now E’de is the epitome of love and that’s what I love to write about. But there is one catch, E’de has a secret. At the end of the series, I want you, the reader, to guess what E’de’s secret is..............more detail

What REAL Good, Cool i.e. SOUL BROTHERS Wants
First of all, I what to say...what women think men want from them, causes ya'll to have resentment and anger towards us, and feel hopeless about ever developing a wonderful, warm, romantic partnership. What we think women want from us causes us much of the same feelings and frustration. .............more detail

Man in my Mirror
We were all extremely saddened by the death of the ultra-talented pop icon star Michael Joseph Jackson on June 25, 2009, at the young age of 50. Michael touched us all during many different eras and in many different ways. May he finally get the peace in death that he never received in life. If you're patient with me, I will tell you how he touched my life .............more detail

About 'Females'
Now, someone really needs to enlighten me on this. I was flirting, I guess, with a woman who thought it best that I realize that she was not like the other females I had been known to associate with. Hmmm... 'females' seemed the only thing she said worth noting or remembering. Certainly, her point ('I bet you tell all the girls that.') was a tired one.............more detail

Untreated Wounds
There’s a man. He has a terrible secret. His shame and pain haunt him. His secret eats at his very soul; it has shaped his consciousness and the way he views life and he’s formed his identity around his unhealed wounds. .............more detail

Commitment is one of those qualities that everyone seems to think he or she can define, until he or she is asked to define it. Recognizing committed couples is easier than describing one. One’s actions demonstrate commitment rather than their words.

Nephrologist Martin Pollak and his team found that a common genetic mutation of the APOL1 gene might be partly responsible for African Americans' susceptibility. The mutation likely arose due to natural selection because it protects against African sleeping sickness, Pollak wrote. Yet it also makes African Americans more vulnerable to kidney disease, according to the study released last month in the online issue of Science Magazine.
