Your Revolution

your revolution will not happen between these thighs
your revolution will not happen between these thighs

the real revolutionain't about booty size
the Versaces you buys
or the Lexus you drives

and though we've lost Biggie Smalls
your Notorious revolution
will never allow you to lace no
lyrical douche in my bush

your revolution will not be you
killing me softly with Fugees
your revolution ain't gon' knock me up
without no ring and produce little future MCs
because that revolution will not happen between these thighs

your revolution
will not find me in the
backseat of a Jeep with LL
hard as hell
ya know, doin' it & doin' it & doin' it well
ya know, doin' it & doin' it & doin' it well

your revolution will not be you
smackin' it up, flippin' it, or rubbin' it down
nor will it take you downtown or humpin' around
because that revolution will not happen between these thighs

your revolution will not have me singin'
ain't no nigger like the one I got
your revolution will not be you
sending me for no drip drip VD shot

your revolution will not involve me feeling your nature rise
or helping you fantasize
because that revolution will not happen between these thighs
and no, my Jamaican brother, your revolution
will not make you feel boombastic and really fantastic
have you groping in the dark for that rubber wrapped in plastic

you will not be touching your lips to my triple dip of
french vanilla butter pecan chocolate deluxe
or having Akinyele's dream
a six-foot blowjob machine

you wanna subjugate your queen;
think I'ma put it in my mouth
just 'cause you made a few bucks
please brotha please!

your revolution will not be me tossing my weave
making believe I'm some caviar-eating, ghetto mafia clown
or me givin' up my behind just so I can get signed
or maybe have somebody else write my rhymes?
I'm Sarah Jones, not Foxy Brown

your revolution makes me wonder, where could we go

if we could drop the empty pursuit of props and the ego

we'd revolt back to our Roots, use a little Common Sense, on a Quest to make love De La Soul, no pretense...but

your revolution will not be you flexing your little sex and status

to express what you feel;
your revolution will not happen between these thighs
will not happen between these thighs
will not be you shaking and me faking between these thighs
because the revolution, that's right, I say the real revolution, you know the real revolution, when it finally comes, it's gon' be real.

 Mind Over Matter

Let there be a meeting of the minds

Before two bodies spend well-earned time.

Is awareness of the mind’s process

Overshadowed by attempts to peek through my dress?

Will the ability to make sound decisions

Spark an interest or blur the vision?

Opinion is respected to be viewed as sexy.

Thanks for the compliment, some may disagree.

Excuse the next statement, which may seem mean.

Women know how well assets squeeze into jeans.

Thanks also for noticing the perky chest.

Which one is bigger, the right or the left?

Full lips pause, but weren’t ignored.

It’s much too soon for the pair to be explored.

What an experience this chance meeting has become.

Dismissal of flattery reduced the need to succumb.

Man + woman doesn’t always = sex.

Only 30 minutes have passed since we first met.

Concern for the head rested below the equator.

Let’s clear the air now, as there won’t be a later.

Sweet talk given in the first half-hour,

Has made initial thoughts turn sour.

In time the body may have welcomed a desire,

At this pace, it’s time to put out the fire.

With short time spent apathetically listening,

There’s too much heat overpowering this kitchen.

In domain

I can

sing my Ode

into the heavenlies,

a praise song, to petition,

to open, the path, windows, doors,

floodgates of an open heaven

for a new president;

a new, new nation, a new world village

a new Earth-realm.

And I can sing and dance the dance of David to open the floodgates of heaven and the chambers of my own mortal heart and let God rain down on me and reign longer than any doubt or tear can run through my mortal body.

I can let the floodgates of heaven rain

with new spiritual waters, and wash

my senses, organs, capacities and limbs in the physical and the spiritual; wash my memories and nightmares of pain, isolation, personal storms desert experiences, atrocities, curses, assaults, violence, emptiness, pennilessness, poverty cowardice, out of my realm, mouth, metron, thought-behaviors, reach and reference.

I can sing  aloud and reach… I can dance a dance worthy in the down pour Of being…‘no ways tired’ to restore the connection from my lips to clouds and conceive of a new day, in this time of fasting and break the seal and, peace of mind for Jubilee in this land, in this nation, in this world, in my domain in the reality of human capacities and call up, Our Father which art in heaven and be given  a new day to testify to Glory to even hold the Sun and Light as it rises, in my own mantle and belly and call it hope. So…Charge the atmosphere my beloved in your domain!

That Was And Is Your  Man

As I sit and watch you and him in the front seat of the car, sistah...

While I was sitting in the back.

I am reminded of being in the presence of two old good friends and lovers.

My how comfortable u two look together...

Like a hand fits a glove.

You both don't say much, but seem to understand what each other is thinking and feeling

You nod once or twice at him....

He nods once or twice back at u ...

Both of your heads turn once in a while and your eyes meet with a sure glance of affection and a light shade of intimacy.

You speak something softly to him and laugh with a sigh of release

He speaks something back to you in a whisper...

Which I could barely here, but you seem to understand totally.

The love I see apparently is real and it will last forever!

Has the years of no real man being around caused your to settle for this.

Or do you think since he has been in your life for so long, through the good times and bad...

That you owe him your life, my sistah.

Yet, I am but an observer from the back seat of the car...

feeling like a ghost that no one sees; a fly on the wall.

Wishing deep down inside that I could flow with you like that.

Longing to have a relationship with you like what I see, my sistah.

But I know I can be nothing more than the other.

While he was and is your son...

The Man… your Man!

Commitment is one of those qualities that everyone seems to think he or she can define, until he or she is asked to define it. Recognizing committed couples is easier than describing one. One’s actions demonstrate commitment rather than their words.

Nephrologist Martin Pollak and his team found that a common genetic mutation of the APOL1 gene might be partly responsible for African Americans' susceptibility. The mutation likely arose due to natural selection because it protects against African sleeping sickness, Pollak wrote. Yet it also makes African Americans more vulnerable to kidney disease, according to the study released last month in the online issue of Science Magazine.
